TheraSound and Chronic Pain Management

At Therasound, we are interested in a holistic approach to pain reduction and management. As the research on our acoustic therapy at the NIH shows, sessions with TheraSound help patients create the relaxation response, increase concentration, reduce depression and improve functionality, without drugs and with a great deal of personal participation.

TheraSound’s Pain Management Program

Our Pain Management Program features a practitioner edition and a “take home” patient version. The Program has been designed to enhance the effectiveness of existing allopathic pain management programs and to work in conjunction with other holistic modalities such as acupuncture, chiropractic, homeopathic, stretching, yoga, tai chi, and all forms of body work.

The practitioner edition includes:

  • Two (2) hour long clinically tested anxiolytic CDs
  • An extensive manual written with the practitioner in mind, explaining how to utilize the program.
  • A patient "take home" package.

Our method offers pain management practitioners and facilities the opportunity to provide their patients with a take home version of the program.

Through the use of acoustic therapy, the patient develops an understanding of how to create the relaxation response and hence, manage their pain, for themselves. By approaching their pain in this manner, the patient becomes directly involved in their pain management process, an empowering experience that helps shift the locus of control from the practitioner to the patient, facilitating a continued participation in pain management exercises.

The Patient Program includes:

  • Two hour long clinically tested anxiolytic CDs
  • A inspiring, encouraging manual written just ffor patient application.

How Does the Program help people with pain?

Breathing and pain reduction:

The music in this program has been designed to effortlessly elicit the deep breathing patterns that produce the Relaxation Response. During a listening session, patients find themselves breathing in time with the rising and falling chord pattern in the music… breathing deeper, slower and longer.

When a person breathes in this way over a twenty-minute period, the Relaxation Response occurs, resulting in a drop in pulse rate and blood pressure. This place of deep relaxation and focused concentration significantly diminishes pain, stress, tension, anxiety and depression.

Patient Participation

At Therasound, we have found a great way to teach and inspire chronic pain patients to continue their exercises: beautiful music!

Patients love music. It touches them on so many levels. They respond to it willingly and keep using it over time.

The music in our Pain Management Program supports patients' personal journeys toward relatively pain free and functional lives and inspires them to stick with their pain management routine.

Patients actually look forward to doing the work themselves.

When patients are personally empowered to positively affect their own therapeutic process, their mental outlook dramtically improves. They experience a motivating sense of purpose, a calm and settled mind, and a deep feeling of accomplishment, personal satisfaction, and fulfillment.
